The Government body responsible for protection of intellectual property, IP Australia, has recently announced changes to trade mark fees. These changes take effect from 10 October 2016.
The most significant changes to the fees are that:
- the per class fee for filing a new trade mark application is increasing by $130 from $200 to $330/class;
- BUT, there will no longer be any fees payable on registration (formerly $300/class); and
- renewal fees are increasing by $100/class to $400/class.
So, there is an increase in up front fees but a saving overall of $170/class for applications that proceed to registration.
Our fees remain unchanged. Contact us if you would like a copy of our trade mark fee schedule.
