Media Finance
Simpsons has represented financier interests in hundreds of film and television productions. We advise many of the key local and international financiers in the sector as well as banks, private financiers, private equity interests and government agencies.
Alongside our film and television project work, we have also advised on the securitisation and sale of music and book catalogues and on finance for corporate enterprises whose business is based around intangible assets.

We have particular expertise in financing and procuring various tax-based incentives for film and television production (including the producer and location offsets and PDV offsets) as well as government grants and investments. Our experience and insight in this area comes in part from strong working relationships with the relevant government agencies and the Australian Taxation Office over many years.
We drive and structure complex finance transactions involving multiple parties across a range of jurisdictions. We do this work daily and use a unique project management system so that our clients can monitor the status of their project in real time. Having advised on many official and non-official co-production deals, we have unique oversight of international financing structures.
Our in-depth experience in media, entertainment and IP means we are in a position to advise our clients on the unique risks that apply to financing intangible assets and on ways to mitigate those risks.
