Bio
Ruth is a Senior Lawyer in Simpsons’ Corporate & Commercial, Music, Philanthropy and Digital Media team.
Ruth delivers commercial advice across a range of practice areas, to assist her clients in their deal making, relationship management, compliance and dispute resolution. Her areas of practice include intellectual property, commercial law, privacy and data protection, media and defamation, competition and consumer law and employment law. Ruth assists clients involved in live performance, TV and film production, visual arts, publishing, music, talent and brand management, and media, gaming and software.
Before joining Simpsons, Ruth gained experience at a specialist arts and entertainment law firm in Sydney.
Education
Ruth holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Sciences, majoring in Physiology and Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg).
Other Contributions
Ruth volunteers as a lawyer for the Arts Law Centre of Australia, and has been recognised as a contributing member by the Arts Law Centre’s pro bono awards.
Ruth has been identified by national and international legal guides, including as a “Rising Star” in Doyle’s Guide in 2016 and in the Legal 500 as an asset to the Media and Entertainment Sector in 2020.
